Should I buy LED tape or a strip-light kit?

A kit can simplify a small installation, but check exactly what it includes and its maximum usable length. Separate tape lets you choose components for your project; it may need a compatible power supply, controller, connectors and mounting profile.

How do I choose a power supply for LED strip?

Match the strip's rated voltage and the required power-supply type. For constant-voltage tape, multiply watts per metre by the installed length to find the connected load, then allow the headroom specified by the manufacturer. Also check the controller's current capacity.

Can I cut or join LED strip lighting?

Only cut at the marked cut points and follow the product instructions. Match connectors to the strip width, contact layout and electrical rating. Cutting protected tape may require resealing, and joining strips does not remove the maximum-run limit.

Can every strip be used outdoors or in a bathroom?

No. Check the product's intended use and IP rating for the location. The power supply, controller, connectors and cut ends need suitable protection too. For bathroom or fixed-wiring installations, have an electrician confirm suitability.

How long can one strip run be?

Use the manufacturer's maximum-run guidance for the specific tape, supply and controller. Longer runs can suffer voltage drop and uneven brightness. Extra power feeds or separate runs may be needed; do not assume multiple reels can be joined end to end.
