B15 lamps, also known as Bayonet cap or BC lamps, are a popular lighting solution with a distinctive bayonet base. These lamps are widely used in a variety of lighting fixtures, including ceiling lights, wall sconces, and pendant lamps. B15 bulbs come in various shapes, wattages, and color temperatures, providing flexibility to cater to specific lighting needs and preferences.

What is a B15 bulb?

B15, also known as small Bayonet cap or BC, is a widely recognized lamp socket base known for its easy-to-use bayonet fitting. B15 bulbs are commonly used in lighting fixtures like ceiling lights and wall sconces.

Why choose a B15 LED bulb?

Our popular choice of B15 LED bulbs not only offers low wattage and environmentally friendly home lighting, but LED technology is also efficient in terms of lifespan. Older candescent bulbs typically deliver a lifespan of around 1,000 hours (or about 42 days of continuous use). In comparison, our advanced B15 LED bulb options deliver a lifespan of 10,000 - 20,000 hours or more, which represents almost a thousand days of continuous use (some LED bulbs can last up to 50,000 hours).

Frequently asked questions

What fitting does a B15 bulb use?

B15 is a small bayonet cap approximately 15mm in diameter, commonly labelled SBC. It uses a push-and-twist connection and is smaller than B22 (BC). E14 (SES) is a screw cap, so it is not a substitute for B15.

Which B15 bulb shape will fit my light?

B15 candle and golfball bulbs use the same cap size but have different profiles. Check the overall length and diameter, especially in small shades or decorative fittings. For multi-lamp fittings, matching the shape, Kelvin rating and lumen output helps create a consistent result.

What wattage B15 LED bulb should I choose?

If you are matching an existing LED bulb, wattage is a useful starting point, but also compare lumens for brightness. Two LEDs with the same wattage can give different amounts of light. When replacing an incandescent or halogen bulb, use the LED manufacturer's stated replacement rating and lumen output rather than choosing the same wattage.

Which light colour should I choose for a B15 bulb?

Compare the Kelvin (K) rating to match your existing lighting. Warm white is typically 2700K–3000K, cool white is commonly 4000K and daylight options are usually 5000K–6500K. Very warm 2000K–2200K lamps give a more amber appearance and can suit decorative lighting. Check lumens separately: light colour does not tell you how bright a bulb is.

Can I use B15 LED bulbs with a dimmer?

Only use bulbs marked dimmable with a wall dimmer, and check the bulb and dimmer manufacturers' compatibility guidance. An older dimmer may not work reliably with LED lamps. Check its supported LED load and number of lamps; choosing a dimmable bulb alone does not guarantee compatibility.

Are B15 bulbs sold individually or in multipacks?

Check the product title, selected option and pack information before ordering. A basket quantity of one means one of the advertised units: for a four-pack, that is four bulbs. Compare both the pack price and the number of bulbs when choosing.
